Leaders are called forward to bring direction and guidance to God’s people, for the fruitful longevity of a body of believers, and for the Gospel to be expressed, with love and power (Rom. 1:16), through the Church in every generation.

As we anticipate the changing of the seasons here in Maine and celebrate old things bringing forth new life once again, I wanted to take a moment to reflect on some of the hopeful new beginnings that around the corner for the Vineyard.
Every time I recount how the Lord led us to this crossroads, to “Stand at the crossroads and look; ask for the ancient paths, ask where the good way is, and walk in it, and you will find rest for your souls” (Jer. 6:16a), I am astounded at what He has done.
We came to this deep and long season of reimagining the Movement for the purposes of refocusing on our values and resourcing our pastors toward the next 40 years of our growth, with no pressure from an outside source, no one jostling for influence or to “get their way,” and no competition with other groups or organizations based on some elusive measure of “success.”
The Lord has truly led us to this moment of deep and profound obedience, and we are saying “yes” once again as the Vineyard!
When the Lord invited us into our crossroad-moment, I never imagined that the world would come to its own crossroad–moment just as we were beginning ours. But that convergence gives me great assurance that Jesus has been leading us, and is leading us, to bring the Gospel to our world in ways we never imagined before!
After thousands of hours of prayer across our Movement, input from pastors all along the way, and an extended time of vital discernment and vetting by the Executive Team, we have selected our new National Director-Elect, Jay Pathak.
In the coming months, I want to encourage us all to pray for the very best for Jay and his family, for the new leaders that will be selected for the new roles we are creating, and for every Vineyard pastor in our family of churches.
I believe we will, in one accord, see the Vineyard in the U.S. being freshly positioned as a globally-impacting family of Spirit-filled churches for the 21st century, walking together into God’s great future.
In closing, may I just say that the amount of cooperation and mutual alignment I have seen among our pastors has been astounding in this reorganization process. There is a resonating sense of clarity among us that we are changing our structures to equip, encourage, and empower every local pastor who calls the Vineyard “home” and that this reorganization is vital and necessary to our future.
Let’s rally around Jay, holding him “in the highest regard” as 1 Thessalonians 5:12-13a puts it, as we work together in the Lord’s Vineyard.

Mientras anticipamos el cambio de estaciones aquí en Maine y celebramos que las cosas viejas traen nueva vida una vez más, quería tomarme un momento para reflexionar sobre algunas de las nuevas y excitantes cosas que están a la vuelta de la esquina para La Viña.
Cada vez que cuento cómo el Señor nos trajo a esta intersección, como dice (Jeremías 6: 16a), “Deténganse en los caminos y miren; pregunten por los senderos antiguos. Pregunten por el buen camino, y no se aparten de él. Así hallarán el descanso anhelado.” Me conmueve ver lo que El Señor ha hecho.
Llegamos a esta larga y profunda temporada de reinventar el Movimiento con el propósito de reenfocar nuestros valores y ofrecer recursos a nuestros pastores para los próximos 40 años de desarrollo, sin presiones externas, sin que nadie trate de influir o de “conseguir cosas a su manera”, sin competencia con grupos / organizaciones basadas en alguna medida elusiva de “éxito”.
¡El Señor realmente nos ha llevado a este momento de íntima y profunda obediencia, y una vez más todos juntos en la Viña decimos “sí”!
Cuando el Señor nos invitó a este ‘periodo’ de intersección, nunca imaginé que el mundo llegaría a su propio tiempo de intersección, justo cuando comenzamos el nuestro. ¡Pero esa coincidencia me da una gran seguridad de que Jesús nos ha estado guiando, y nos está guiando, para llevar el Evangelio a este mundo en formas que nunca, antes habíamos imaginado!
Después de muchas horas de oración por todo nuestro Movimiento, con una gran participación de los pastores a lo largo del proceso, con mucho discernimiento y un vital proceso de selección por parte del Equipo Ejecutivo, hemos seleccionado a nuestro nuevo Director Nacional Electo, Jay Pathak.
En los próximos meses, quiero animar a todos a orar por Jay y su familia, por los nuevos líderes que serán seleccionados para los nuevos roles que estamos creando y por cada pastor de La Viña en nuestra familia de iglesias.
Creo que, unánimemente veremos a La Viña USA vista como una familia de iglesias llenas del Espíritu Santo en una posición que impactará a nivel mundial en el siglo 21, caminando juntos hacia el gran futuro de Dios.
Para terminar, quiero decir que la cooperación y disposición que he visto entre nuestros pastores ha sido asombrosa en este proceso de reorganización. Hay un resonante sentido de claridad entre nosotros de que estamos cambiando nuestras estructuras para equipar, animar y fortalecer a cada pastor local que llama a La Viña su “hogar” y que esta reorganización es vital y necesaria para nuestro futuro.
Únanse conmigo apoyando a Jay, considerándolo “en la más alta estima” como dice 1 Tesalonicenses 5: 12-13a, mientras trabajamos juntos en la Viña del Señor.
