Supporting Our Vineyard Family in Ukraine

Updated May 19, 2023

In the book of James it says, peacemakers who sow in peace, reap a harvest of righteousness. In times of war, the Vineyard is called to pray and act for peace. We write to you with a practical opportunity to sow seeds of peace through strategic financial giving. Below are video updates from partners in the region.

In November 2022 Vineyard USA collected pastors from all over Ukraine to the mountain village of Yaremche with one purpose: to pour into pastors who have been caring for people entrenched in the trauma of war.

We brought a team including a doctor, psychiatrist, and trauma counselor and spent a week focused on refreshing these pastor’s souls & reconnecting to the voice of God. Watch the video above for stories from our time together.

Thank you to all who have contributed to Vineyard USA’s efforts to aide Ukraine. Your contributions have made this, and other aide, possible.

A number of you have been in touch to see how we can continue to help our Vineyard family in Ukraine at this time of war. For those who aren’t aware, there are three Vineyard churches in Ukraine, as well as a ministry called Wide Awake International, that rehabilitates and houses vulnerable and disabled orphans.

As a movement, we have been praying and fasting for the war in Ukraine using the prayer points on our website and joining with others around the world to intercede and petition for God’s protection and peace.

Practically, there is also an immediate need for finances. With this in mind, we are building a fund in the US, which we will send directly to VCUKI, Vineyard DACH, Wide Awake, Convoy of Hope, and other trusted ministry partners.

These resources will be used for the following urgent purposes:

  1. Immediate relief for our churches and any benevolence that they can practically express.
  2. Extraction of certain people, particularly the vulnerable, women, and children from the war zone areas.
  3. Partnership with humanitarian organizations equipped for crisis response.
  4. Help churches and pastors to continue to minister in Ukraine for the duration of the war.
  5. Help in the post-war rebuilding of the churches and their mission in Ukraine.

The funds will be restricted, but we want to let you know that if it outgrows what these organizations need or are structured for, we will then intend to give the excess to our long term partner Convoy of Hope.

You are welcome to process individual giving within your church and then transfer it to this fund for distribution, if that is easiest for you.

While there is no compulsion to give, there have been a large number of inquiries to us, so we wanted to write to you all with the necessary information should you find it helpful for you and your church as you consider ways to respond.

In order to expedite the fund and get resources in the hands of our Ukrainian churches quickly, our giving will be processed through Crossroads Vineyard Church, and the distribution of funds will be overseen by a team of National Team Members and Vineyard USA staff & pastors.

Thank you for your continued support of our brothers and sisters as they endure the present realities of this war. Let us continue to pray that God would make war cease in Ukraine and extend peace to the ends of the Earth.

Peace,

Josh Williams and Bubba Justice
