Listen to RubĂ©n Quintero’s story: “Pastoring In In-Between Places” from the We Are Vineyard podcast.Â
Rubén is the leader of the Hispanic Association for Vineyard USA. As the Hispanic Association leader, he serves by representing and advocating for the Hispanic community in the Vineyard movement so they can be cared for and grow as leaders and pastors for their local churches. Prior to this role, he has been part of La Viña Multiplica team, promoting and supporting church-planting among Spanish speakers in the U.S.
Rubén also is the senior pastor of the Imperial Valley Vineyard, a church that he and his family planted in 2009 in the city of El Centro, CA. Rubén is committed to serve the community of immigrants, especially the agricultural field workers in his region. He is a chaplain for a private harvesting company. He and his church have been part of the Iberia Partnership since 2011, giving support to the Vineyard churches in Spain and Portugal.
He graduated from UABC in Mexicali, Mexico as a CPA, and holds a Masterâs in Theology from San Diego Christian University. He also has 1 unit of Clinical Pastoral Education from CPE of Central California.
RubĂ©n is happily married to Vaneza, and they have 3 wonderful boys â RubĂ©n (16), David (14), and IvĂĄn (12).
I am very excited about serving such a great group of pastors and leaders in our movement. The more I know the people and their stories, the more I believe God has called every one of us for such a time as this. There is great richness in the Hispanic culture that we can bring that into the life of the Vineyard, and I believe we can see the kingdom coming in every Hispanic community in the U.S. through the work of our local churches.
I envision the Vineyard Hispanic Association as a place where Hispanic Pastors and Leaders can belong and grow, as a place to be cared for and to be challenged. The need for Hispanic pastors and leaders is so big in the U.S. I can hear Jesus saying: âThe harvest is plentiful but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.â (Matthew 9:37-38) My dream is to make this prayer a reality in our country.
I love the Vineyard because it is my family. We have the same Father, we love the Son, and we join the work of the Spirit in this world. I enjoy the genuine, loving, and caring relationships, new and old, among every person that calls the Vineyard their home. I love the simple and natural, but powerful and life-giving encounters with God that we call âministry timeâ. I love the âHoly Spirit comeâ prayers and the wise preaching of the Word. I love being us.
