A Letter From Phil: Walk On The Water

When Jesus called Peter to walk on the water, a disciple was learning how to obey Jesus in a situation of high risk. Jesus invites us to do the same.

Dear Friends,

As we head into August, I have a deep and sustained belief that the season ahead of us will hold some of the most encouraging and faith-filled days our Movement has seen in its history.

Our summer Regional conferences have been truly amazing, across the country. We experienced wonderful things at each event, and the reports I heard firsthand, along with stories coming in after the events, show that God is moving in His Vineyard in powerful, encouraging, healing, and renewing ways!

Faith is rising in us, as we continue to see what the Father is doing and join Him in His work (John 5:19).

I love the moment in the Bible when Peter takes Jesus at His word in a risky situation.

“‘Come,’ he said. Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus.” Matt. 14:29

As we head toward our Come, Holy Spirit 2019 National Conference (save those dates!) I want to encourage you to take risks with Jesus – to pray for the sick, to expect God to speak to you for others, and to step out in faith on the waters in front of you.

Know that Jesus will meet you in those moments of risk! Wimber said that faith is spelled R-I-S-K, and we want to take Jesus at His word – just like Peter – knowing that we will do “greater things than these” (John 14:12) as we put our confidence in Christ.

I look forward to seeing many of you at the Better Together Diversity Conference in Evanston Aug. 21-23.

Jan and I are praying for the Kingdom to continue to come in our your life, in our churches, in our nation, and in our world.

Blessings,

Phil

We are excited about this powerful time of power ministry and vital teaching being planned, to renew our commitment to our sacred trust in the Vineyard, as Don Williams said in 2011:

“…God has given the Vineyard a sacred trust: a solid biblical theology of the Kingdom (living in the eschatological tension), reliance on the power and gifts of the Spirit for ministry in the context of church planting and building for mission, and the call to warfare against all the powers of darkness…. The Vineyard’s gift to the larger church will be its stewardship of the Kingdom of God message and ministry of Jesus in the power of the Spirit for today….”

In this unique moment in our history, we want to celebrate all God has done in and through the Vineyard. We invite you to give and support the work of local churches across the country.
