Worship Director
Heartland Vineyard Church
Job Summary:
We are seeking a passionate and organized Worship Director to join our team part-time. This role is about more than just music, it’s about building and maintaining a thriving worship and tech community that loves Jesus and serves with excellence. The Worship Director will coordinate worship and tech teams, lead worship two to three times per month, and help nurture and grow the talents of team members, both spiritually and musically.
This is a part-time position averaging approximately 20 hours per week. The schedule will be flexible and will include required on-site presence on Sunday mornings and several evenings during the week. This position entails weekly interactions with church staff and leadership and reports directly to the Lead Pastors.

Because this is a church staff position, the Worship Director will also be expected to contribute to the broader ministry of Heartland Vineyard Church. A portion of the Worship Director’s weekly hours will be dedicated to church-wide ministry needs, projects, events, and other responsibilities outside of the worship ministry. These responsibilities will vary based on the needs of the church and will be assigned in coordination with the Lead Pastors.

Key Responsibilities:
– Coordinate and Schedule Teams:
– Create and maintain a monthly worship and tech schedule through PCO Services.
– Communicate clearly with volunteers and ensure all service needs are covered.

Lead Worship:
– Lead worship vocally and instrumentally for Sunday services two to three times per month.
– Collaborate with pastoral staff to align music with sermon themes and church calendar when applicable.

Team Development:
– Actively recruit and onboard new worship and tech team members.
– Provide regular training and encouragement to grow team members musically, technically, and spiritually.
– Foster a team culture that values excellence, humility, and Christ-centered service.

Oversee Worship in Youth and Recovery Ministries:
– Provide oversight and direction for the worship ministry within our youth and recovery ministries.
– Recruit, develop, and equip worship team members within these ministries, helping them grow both musically and spiritually.
– Build healthy, sustainable worship teams that can lead worship within their respective ministries.
– Lead worship in youth or recovery gatherings when needed, while primarily focusing on developing and empowering others to lead.

Support Tech Ministry:
– Work alongside tech volunteers to ensure quality sound, slides, and livestream support.
– Provide oversight or training as needed for tech team growth and development.
– Oversee the care, maintenance, and organization of all worship-related equipment, including sound systems, instruments, and related technology.
– Ensure gear is in good working order and coordinate repairs, replacements, or upgrades as needed.

Collaborate with Church Leadership:
– Work closely with the Lead Pastors to ensure the worship and tech ministries align with the broader vision and direction of the church.

Spiritual Leadership:
– Lead not just musically but spiritually, modeling a lifestyle of worship, prayer, and dependence on the Holy Spirit.
– Be a source of encouragement, care, and prayer for your team members, helping them grow as disciples of Jesus.

Prayer and Discernment:
– Approach worship planning and leadership with a posture of prayer, seeking God’s guidance for each service.
– Remain attentive to the Holy Spirit’s leading during worship and open to His promptings.

Engagement in Church Life:
– Be an active participant in the broader life of Heartland Vineyard Church, attending services regularly, attending events outside of Sunday morning, and supporting church-wide initiatives.
– Be a visible and approachable presence within the church family, helping foster unity and relational connection.

Church-Wide Ministry Support:
– Dedicate a designated portion of weekly work hours to supporting the broader ministry of Heartland Vineyard Church.
– Assist with church-wide events, ministry projects, special services, administrative needs, volunteer initiatives, and other ministry responsibilities as assigned.
– Serve collaboratively with other staff members and ministry leaders, contributing wherever needed to help accomplish the overall mission and vision of the church.
– Remain flexible as church-wide needs and priorities change throughout the year.
– Balance these responsibilities with the primary responsibilities of leading and developing the worship and tech ministries.

Qualifications:
– A strong, ongoing personal relationship with Jesus Christ that is evident in daily life and ministry.
– A commitment to Vineyard values, theology, and practices, including Vineyard’s understanding of worship and the present-day ministry of the Holy Spirit, as well as agreement with the Vineyard statement of faith and church policies.
– Demonstrated character, humility, and emotional maturity, along with a commitment to continually investing in their own spiritual and emotional health.
– Ability to build healthy relationships, navigate conflict well, and receive and respond to feedback with humility.
– A heart for worship and a desire to lead others into God’s presence.
– Musical ability to lead vocally and with an instrument (guitar or piano preferred).
– Prior experience in leading worship and managing worship teams is strongly preferred.
– Strong organizational and communication skills.
– Ability to inspire and mentor volunteers.
– Familiarity with tools like Planning Center Online, ProPresenter, and audio/visual equipment is a plus.

What We’re Looking For:
– A team builder with a servant’s heart.
– Someone who thrives in a collaborative, Spirit-led environment.
– A person passionate about excellence without losing sight of heart and humility.
– Someone who understands that ministry is bigger than a job description and is willing to serve wherever needed to help the church thrive.
